Yoga is simply the science of being in absolute harmony and complete accord with life." (Sadhguru)
Yoga entered my life in the mid-90s, towards the end of my studies, on a beach in Mexico. It opened doors and windows of perception within me, touched me, transformed me, and has stayed with me ever since.
I started with classical Hatha yoga: long-held positions, pranayama, relaxation and meditation.
Over the years/decades, I have gathered many inspirations from different yoga styles (Luna Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Yin Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Embodied Yoga, Fascia Yoga, Yoga Nidra) and woven them into my practice and teaching.
Following the spirit of the times, I am fascinated by the findings from the still young field of fascia research and how these can be integrated into yoga practice:
Fasciae love variety; they thrive on being moved, stretched, and extended in all directions. Rocking, bouncing, and small jumps stimulate the fasciae.
Positions held for extended periods reach deep fascial layers.
Because the fasciae are highly innervated, they are the key tissue for our body awareness and in turn react to our conscious "feeling into the body".
I find this so essential in yoga practice: feeling into the body and moving from within. Not a mind that dominates and disciplines the body, but a profoundly connected cooperation of mind and body – that is yoga for me.
